The film, directed by James Ashcroft ("The Rule of Jenny Pen," "Coming Home in the Dark") follows a crime writer and his retired detective father as they uncover long-buried secrets tied to a notorious serial killer, the commission said.
New Jersey residents interested in being an extra should email whisper@gwcnyc.com with the subject “NJ Residents” and include:
- Full name, pronouns, and phone number
- SAG membership status and visible tattoos
- Proof of NJ residency
- Two recent non-professional photos (a close-up and full-body shot)
- Car details (if applicable), including year, make, model, color, and a photo of the vehicle
Extras will be paid $216 for eight hours if they are SAG members and $181.50 for 10 hours if they are non-SAG members, according to NJ Motion Picture & TV Commission.
Netflix announced that Michelle Monaghan ("The White Lotus") and Adam Scott ("Severance") will join De Niro in the psychological thriller, which is based on the "New York Times" bestselling novel by Alex North, according to Netflix.
Netflix said that the film was written by Ben Jacoby ("The First Omen") and Chase Palmer ("It"). According to Netflix, "The Whisper Man" follows a widowed crime writer whose eight-year-old son is abducted. Desperate for answers, he turns to his estranged father, a retired detective, only to uncover a chilling connection between his son’s disappearance and a decades-old case involving a convicted serial killer known as “The Whisper Man.”
The film is being produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Michael Disco for AGBO, with Kassee Whiting serving as an executive producer alongside Marcus Viscidi, Netflix announced.
Production is set to begin this spring.
